OPEN ROAD
The road lies open, far and wide,
Beneath a vast and troubled sky.
No hand to lead, no star to guide,
No certain truth to tell me why.
Beyond the hills, beyond the plain,
Where distant clouds and shadows roam,
Through years of loss, through wind and rain,
I sought a place that I might call home.
Yet roads are made for those who dare,
To leave behind what cannot stay.
To bear the weight of past despair,
And walk towards another day.
And though the heavens bend and brood,
And distant storms obscure the view,
I find within this solitude,
The strength to see the journey through.
For somewhere past that distant bend,
Where earth and endless heavens meet,
The road goes on beyond its end,
And life lies open at my feet.
