Boat Life No.2 – Seascape Art
I woke up on the Central Line of the London Underground — no memory of how I got there, no clue why. Just the horror of not knowing what chaos I’d caused… or what had happened to me. My face was bruised, bloodied, and throbbing with pain.
A small, elderly woman came and sat beside me. She gently placed her hand on my shoulder, handed me a tissue, and softly said just a few words:
“God has you young man.”
In one of the darkest moments of my life, God reached out — not in thunder or lightning — but through a fragile human vessel with kindness and a quiet touch.
Even twenty years later, that moment has never left me. I think of it often.
God is working. God is comforting.
And even broken and drifting… I was still in the boat. Still afloat. And God was steering — through calm and through storm.
“A ship is safe in harbor, but that’s not what ships are for.”
— John A. Shedd
